Sack Boy had an Accident ....

I've been feeling a bit guilty lately. When I first brought my PS3 home the first thing I done was play LittleBig Planet. I spent HOURS on that game. Then after completing it there was a vast array of custom made levels. THEN went on the PSN to download new costumes for the little fella.
Life was simple back then....

But now my games collection is increasing, the demos are coming thick and fast and the PS Store is releasing more and more classic games that can't be ignored, my Sack Boy sits alone in the corner...

New costumes are fun and all, but nothing more than aesthetics. What we need to rejuvenate this brilliant game is something new... Some new element to enhance the gameplay... Something... Wet?

That's right- LBP was gone all Kevin Costner. We're still awaiting more news, but this is enough to tickle my interest.
This will definately make me pick the game back up and give Sack Boy a great, big, plutonic cuddle!

Next week- some MANLY news.

PlayStation Store UPDATES! (And rumours)

One of the big perks of next generation gaming is of course updates and downloadable content!
This weeks batch of updates may be slim but there are some things worth looking into.

batman_arkham_asylum_04

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM (DEMO)
This is one of the PS Store updates I'm most looking forward too- FINALLY, a hands-on pay of one of the most anticipated games this summer!

infamous-lbp-2
LittleBigPlanet - inFamous Costume Pack (DLC)
Obviously the whole point in LBP is the DLC- and nothing beats dressing your little sack-boy like your favourite heroes! ..... Or murderous villains....

call-of-juarez-logo-no-watermark
CALL OF JUAREZ: BOUND IN BLOOD (DLC)
If I'm honest, I've yet to play this game. But with DLC already available, the chances of me getting it are on the rise!

guitar_hero_world_tour_-_logo
GUITAR HERO WORLD TOUR (DLC)
Guitar Hero's vast catalogue of music is once again expanding. Sadly though this update only consists of one song:
Eric Johnson - “Camel’s Night Out”

rock-band
ROCK BAND (DLC)
ROCK BAND on the other hand is hitting back with a whole pack of songs!
Spinal Tap's TAP TEN track pack

Not a bad week if you ask me. The BATMAN Demo alone will keep me happy for the rest of the week!

As usual there will most likely be more gems added to the PS Store this week, but mostly they are just rumours... So lets post them anyway!
  • CALL OF DUTY: WORLD AT WAR MAP PACK (DLC)
  • FIGHT NIGHT (DLC)
  • RED FACTION: GUERILLA (DLC)
  • G.I JOE (DEMO)
Is that enough to quench your gaming thirsts?

InFamous LBP Costumes Coming This Thursday 30th July

Whilst thinking of new costumes to make, some bright spark had an electrifying idea, one that might not shock anyone but one that was certainly quite current and one we just couldn’t OHMit.

This week on the PSN store will be a costume based on is-he-good-or-is-he-evil loose wire Cole MacGrath, electric super power possessing protagonist of recent PS3 game InFAMOUS. It comes in both flavours too, Good and Evil.

We love this costume so much it hertz. OK I’d better pull the plug on these revolting puns before somebody blows a fuse!

Super Hero Sackboys?

At today's "The Next Generation of Marvel Video Games" panel, three new heroic LittleBigPlanet costumes were revealed.

Marvel showed off three concept renders of Sackboys that may be coming to the PlayStation 3 exclusive, but did not offer dates for the costumes, nor confirm that this would be the extent of the Marvel characters that would be licensed for LittleBigPlanet use.

If these do indeed end up come to LittleBigPlanet then these would be the best looking costumes by far to date. The three costumes are below, would you buy them?

LBP Hits One Million Created Levels

One. Million. Levels.
Amazing, isn’t it? Just think, this means that a new level has been published roughly every 21 seconds since LittleBigPlanet launched.

In case you were wondering, those million levels have been played a total of 244 million times.
The fact that you keep coming back to play, create and share makes us feel all warm and happy.
To those of you who haven’t yet tried LittleBigPlanet, let me ask you a question. What the heck are you waiting for? With over a million different levels to play … don’t you think you might be missing out? :-)

Oh, and one last thing before I’m off to play some of these great user-generated creations on PlayStation Network: check back on this blog around the 18th of August. The folks at Media Molecule might have something interesting to tell you about then…

Littlebigplanet History Pack!

Oufits are:
Genghis Khan the great ruler of the Mongol empire (my fave)
Mozart the composer
Boudica the warrior queen
Countess of Lovelace seen as creating the model for the very first computers using the analytical engine
These outfits come out on the 13th of August (the date on the picture is incorrect)
Looks like this pack comes with stickers as well according to the background!
If you could choose which famous people would be in the next pack who would you choose?
Ghandi? Christopher colombus?
I personally would go for Napoleon or Horatio Nelson

LittleBigPlanet Object Publishing Coming Soon

Media Molecule’s Alex Evans has confirmed that they plan to allow users to publish objects. At the moment you can only publish completed levels, or send objects to friends over PSN, but that’s about to change. “One of the original ideas that was axed from the original game was that you could publish objects from the game online, not just levels, and you’d be credited with the use of those object,” said Evans.

“I think something like that will really boost [accessibility] – if you’re just a beginner user, you can go and browse not just for levels, but for cars, let’s say. Take that, sticker it up, and you’re done – and that will change the barriers to entry.” He also mentions tweaks to the creation tools themselves, and then re-iterates that both of those things – changing the tools themselves, and changing how you share “are coming.”

Media Molecule are going all out with LittleBigPlanet,if only all developers supported there games the way they do. This new feature sounds good and adds even more to a already great game. I also find it great that there addig this to LittleBigPlanet and not holding it back for LittleBigPlanet 2, could this be what the 80mb patch is for?

Patch Lands On LittleBigPlanet

80MB Patch Lands On LittleBigPlanet but what does it include? At this moment in time its being kept secret even the patch was a secret, it seems it could be to do with future content (Ghostbusters?) lets hope it's something big.

Alex Evans wants LittleBigPlanet 2 with backwards compatible levels

Media Molecule's Alex Evans told GamesIndustry.biz that he would "love there to be a sequel" to LittleBigPlanet in a recent interview. "If you look at online distribution for LBP, when the sequel comes along, what do we do with all that content? We can give [consumers] backwards compatibility with those levels." It looks like Evans sees a sequel as inevitable, though he's keen to say that currently everyone at Mm is still working on LBP. Though recent job listings suggest otherwise.

Evans also mentions that a demo for LittleBigPlanet will be released soon, allowing people who still haven't picked it up a chance to try it out. It's unclear whether any of the almost 2 million user generated levels will be playable in the demo, but it should "capture [the game's] essence." More additions to the game are also on the way, such as one that was originally planned for the game, but axed along the way -- sharing objects in a similar way to sharing levels. So more features -- "changing the tools themselves, and changing how you share -- are coming."

Ghostbusters coming to LBP

The PlayStation Blog as now confirmed Ghostbusters is coming to LBP, no other details but could this mean free/paid costumes or even Ghostbusters themed levels? or maybe just some Ghostbusters sticker packs. Hopefully we will see something similar to the MGS packs.

The SackBlog

Blogged yesterday on the Official US PlayStation Blog, Mark Valledor, Marketing Director at SCEA posted an interesting link to a blog written by one little Sackboy named Arnold Drake. This little adventurer is travelling around the world, and getting others to photograph his adventures. His blog details his daily happenings, and dates back to May 2009.

Whether this is an official site, set up by Media Molecule or from a member of the public who managed to grab one in five thousand rare Sackboy dolls from the Media Molecule Youtube page remains a little bit of a mystery. Nevertheless, for younger audiences, the site offers a charming little online diary of the little things that Sackboy gets up to in the big world.

We’ve seen similar blogs to this such as the traveling gnome, but nothing that beats the almighty Sackboy. Keep an eye on where Arnold goes in the next few months, as LittleBigPlanet continues to push its leading character as an icon to the PlayStation brand and in unique and fresh ways to keep him in the limelight.

We're ready to believe in Ghostbusters LittleBigPlanet costumes

No, Sony hasn't actually confirmed that Ghostbusters costumes are headed to LittleBigPlanet, but it has certainly hinted at the possibility. In a recent post on Playstation.Blog highlighting the new Sacktue of Liberty costume, the company dropped a not so subtle hint. Following the words "Future LittleBigPlanet DLC?" was the image to the right.

Everyone and their dog knows who they're gonna call, and that's the Ghostbusters, so we're pretty sure that related costumes are on the way. Who knows, maybe they'll throw in a Slimer costume while they're at it.

The Sacktue of Liberty is out today

It’s quite possibly the cutest way of celebrating the United States of America’s day of Independence, this July 4th!

And if the free content isn’t enough to keep you happy, don’t forget that the rather awesome Jon Burgerman Original Sticker Pack is still hot on the PSN Store with its funky collection of Burgerman sticker goodness.

Remember that PSN Stores update one by one around the world, east to west.
We’re in Europe where it’s just gone live, so you U.S folks normally have to wait a little longer for it to cross the ocean
