Trine Pushed Back

Trine will not be releasing this week and maybe not even next week on the Playstation store due to finding a bug at the last minute before release, The best answer that seems to be out there at the moment is the game will arrive soon.

With the release of Fat princess this week i would recommend anyone looking to buy a new game from the Playstation store to pick this up while your waiting for Trine.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope Coming To PS3

Gamefly have listed Star Ocean for the PS3 with a TBD release date, Gamefly said "We simply post information as it is supplied to us by the publishers". Star Ocean was an Xbox 360 exclusive until now, no release date as been announced but expect more details soon.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen Review

Based on the blockbuster film of the same name, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is a movie tie-in to put it bluntly. But before you run away in fear of losing your hard earned cash on a hopeless waste of £40, you might just want to listen to what I have to say..

Revenge of the Fallen is by no means perfect. The story can become repetetive and isn't exactly filled with variety. The graphics are bog-standard for a PS3 game, there's nothing that's going to blow you away and the same could be said for the gameplay in the single player which basically involes the giant robot you're controlling destroying other giant robots which all look exactly the same or repairing another ***** communications array.

But, it can be a lot of fun. The single player aspect contains two different campaigns, in one you play as the good guys, the Autobots and in the other you play as the Decepticons who are the bad guys. Each mini campaign took me around four hours to complete but there's plenty to do once you've finished. You can go back and try and achieve platinum medals in all the missions which awards you with a shiny trophy or play through the missions as different characters. You also buy upgrades with the Energon you collect on upgrades which improve your giant war machines but only marginally. To be honest even when I had Optimus Prime maxed out in health I hardly knew the difference because it really is a challenge to die in the game. Although, a new, more challenging difficulty along with new characters and multiplayer maps are coming out some time in the summer. The replayabilty is by no means brilliant but it will keep you going if you want to get all the trophies.

Let's get to the much better part of the game, the multiplayer. Yes, you read right, ladies and gents, Revenge of the Fallen is a movie tie-in which contains multiplayer and its seriously good fun. The multiplayer only allows for 8 players but there's not just the boring team deathmatch to play around with. Well there's deathmatch as well. Only kidding, you can also try out Control Points which is a simple command post game type like Capture and Hold in Killzone 2. Battle for the Shards is the Transformers version of Capture the flag where pieces of the All Spark are scattered around the maps for you to collect and take back to your base before the other team But my favourite mode is One Shall Stand as it requires real teamwork. One player of each team is chosen as the team leader, either Optimus Prime or Megatron and is the only player who can see the location of the other leader. You have to protect your own leader while trying to kill the other. Also, I've never struggled to find a multiplayer match so there's no Red Faction situation here even though its the superior game but the serves aren't always full so don't always expect a 4 vs 4 match. The best time to go on is in the evening as all the Americans are on and they fill out the serves.

There are fifteen default characters in the multiplayer with a few skins for some of the existing characters. For the Autbots there's the recognisable, metallic faces of the courageous Optimus Prime and the hyper-active sugar addict Bumblebee while the Decepticon team contains the deceiving bugger who is Starscream and the super-powered Megatron. These robots transform into trucks, cars, jets and helictopters so don't go thinking they all look the same on the battlefield like the single player drones.

In conclusion, Revenge of the Fallen is a good movie tie-in. Yes, they do exist, Spider-Man 2 is living proof. The single player is nothing special and will only keep you entertained for a short while. Its great fun playing as the Transformers and zooming around as a jet while firing missiles at a nearby enemy, then transforming back into a robot and taking the guy out in a kick boxing match. Only in multiplayer though, there's no satisfaction in killing a stupid drone who looks exactly the same as the last robot drone you just took out. I wouldn't recommend buying the game for £40, even I didn't but if you see it for around £20 I would say it's worth a shot if your a fan of Transformers.

Overall: 7.4/10

More Players Playing Socom Then Killzone 2

According to SCEA senior producer Mark Rogers, SOCOM Confrontation has the most simultaneous online connections on the PlayStation Network then both Killzone 2 and Resistance 2, proving that Socom is still as popular as it was on the PS2, even with all the bugs that have plagued it since its launch.

Players who have stuck with SOCOM Confrontation will be rewarded soon with another upcoming patch which is in testing "the scale and scope of the patch has led to an extended testing cycle" with Slant Six continuing to support SOCOM Confrontation This will no doubt keep the Socom fan's happy for the foreseeable future.

inFamous Coming To The Big Screen

Sony Computer Entertainment's inFAMOUS will be turned into a movie by screenwriter Sheldon Turner.

"What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," scribe Turner told THR. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."

The property's rights are still being ironed out but should not be an issue considering both entities fall under the ginormous Sony umbrella. So it will be some time before it's released in theaters.

Fat Princess Home Space Coming Soon (UPDATE)

After watching the video below it appears that the Fat Princess space is the old events/treasure hunt space from awhile back, does this mean it will be around for a limited time only or is this indeed a new space.

No release date as yet but with Fat Princess releasing tomorrow July 30th, could we see the space added in the weekly Home update which is every Thursday.

UPDATE
The following was just posted on the EU Blog concerning Fat princess event space coming to Home.

Next (and this is very exciting) as of tomorrow, we will be launching a new event in PS Home – the Fat Princess “Quest for Cake”.
Based upon the brilliant PSN title, all you have to do is visit the PlayStation Events Space to join in this very special confectionery quest.

In the fully redecorated space you will find eight pieces of cake, locked away in cages. To unlock the cake and feed your Princess you need to search the space high and low for clues, these clues will give you access to the finest gateaux and, eventually, her majesty’s waistline.
If you do manage to unlock all eight pieces of cake, and feed the Princess, a special PS Home reward will be yours – the Fat Princess’ very own throne for your personal apartment. Here are a few screenshots of the space to whet your appetite…

Last, (but by no means least!) there will be a few additional surprises in tomorrow’s publishing window (particularly revolving around the undead…) so be sure to log-in and check it out
I’ll be around for a while if you have any comments, otherwise I’ll see you in PS Home tomorrow unlocking slices of the finest black forest gateaux.

PS3 Slim Releasing After GDC Europe 2009?

After looking around the web the last few days for cheap deals on PS3s i have noticed that a few retailers have reduced the price on their PS3s to clear old stock, but the old stock appears to be 40 and 80gb PS3s. I have called around a few stores and have heard from at least two that the reason was to clear the old stock for a new PS3 SKU(stock-keeping unit) one told me that a new PS3 SKU will be out very soon, i then asked if this was to do with the PS3 slim in which he told me "well if i was you i would keep an eye on GDC Europe 2009 for more details" this is what he was told by his employer.

So the evidence appears to point at the PS3 Slim being announced at GDC Europe 2009 with a release very soon after maybe around september at a price of around £249 with all old versions being sold at a lower price to clear.

Otherwise expect an annoucement of the PS3 Slim to launch late Sep/October at the Tokyo Game Show (24 Sep)

Either way it looks very likly we will see the slim by the end of October at the latest.

Playstation 3 40gig Reduced From £297 To £199

In my local Asda today PS3 40gig reduced from £297 to £199. At the till they said they are selling them off as they are discontinued. 80 gig are not going to be reduced. May only be local (Stratford upon Avon) but worth a look in case it is national.

SONY PS3 40/80GB CONSOLE £200.00 INSTORE ONLY
I have also heard that W H Smiths are doing these deals to but you will need to check your local store as some have them and some don't in store only.

Kratos Figures On The Way

Sideshow Collectibles are working on sculptures of God Of War hero Kratos. Release date and pricing info for the Kratos statue and other products in the line has yet to be announced but I’m sure we can expect to see the Kratos statue released around the time God of War 3 is released next March.
