Fat Princess Patch On The Way

Titan studios have announced that a patch is currently in testing and are working on changing certain things within the game due to feedback received. Check out the full post here

Patch in Testing

We have implemented fixes that should substantially improve critical connection and lag issues.  A patch has now entered testing.  No ETA yet.  When we have information to share, you’ll get it.

Known Issues, Bugs, Imbalances

The following bugs and imbalances have been well reported and documented.  In general, there is no need to send additional information.  If you come across something new – please send it on.

  • Failed Game Connections
  • Lag
  • Hosting Problems
  • AoE Scoring Exploits
  • Stalemates
  • Missing Princess (on certain levels)
  • Dead Hat Machines
  • Scoreboard Issues (only top 1000 scores shown)
  • Ranking System Problems

Balancing, Feature Requests, Other Comments

We have also received hundreds of great suggestions, some of which will directly result in changes to the game at some point down the road.  Among those that have been well documented:

  • Changes to Ranking System
  • Changes to Scoring System
  • Stalemate Breakers (e.g. – Finite Cake, Slim Fast Princess)
  • Server Lists
  • Clan Management
  • Hosted Servers
  • Class Balance
  • More Classes
  • More Class Upgrades
  • More Maps
  • More Modes
  • More Sports
  • Even Fatter Princesses
  • Unbelievably Fat Gargantuan Princesses

Please note: we have so many emails coming in that though we’ll read it all, we will not be able to respond to everything.  We only have so many hours in the day, and I am sure you’ll all agree that work on the game takes priority.  Thanks for your understanding.

Fat Princess Review

Having tried my best to stay clear of all the hype for Fat princess, i was told by a friend that i would really like this game seeing how i like RPG fighting games, so on his recommendation i watched the video i posted here yesterday, by the time the video ended i knew i was going to buy this.

There's lots to do in this game, you have single player story mode which is ok but really is only there to show you the different game modes and classes.

Then you have the online part which consists of:

Game modes:

Rescue the princess- capture the other teams princess and take her back to your castle, while defending your princess.

Snatch 'N Grab- where you have to capture the princess three times to win.

Team deathmatch- run down the other teams tickets to zero.

Invasion- take over the outposts to run down the other teams timer to zero.

Soccer- this mode is all out kill or be killed while trying to score goals on a football pitch (very fun).

The different classes:

Villager - fast but can only slap, also health is very low (two hearts)

Worker - the worker collects resources to upgrade hat machines, he can also build castle doors, catapults and ladders to help you invade the enemy castle. When upgraded he can throw bombs.

Ranger - fires arrows, when upgraded he can also fire bullets.

Priest - heals teammates, when upgraded can absorb health from the enemy players.

Mage- fires fireballs, when upgraded he can freeze the enemy with ice.

Warrior- sword and shield, when upgraded he uses a two handed spear like sword.

You can switch between these when ever you like by either pressing circle when next to a hat that someone as dropped due to being killed or by going to your hat machines within your castle. There are also upgrades available for each class, to upgrade a class workers will need to collect resources of wood and metal then a worker can then upgrade a hat machine. Also once a class is upgraded if you press the triangle button you switch between the two different upgrades that are available for each class.

The controls are tight and very easy to pick up, tap square to attack or hold down to do a more powerful attack, circle picks up the different hats, x is to jump, L1 locks on to the nearest target and triangle to switch between the upgrades if available.

One thing i have noticed is that if you are on a team with people who refuse to work together you will lose very quickly, but if you are on a team that works together its so much more fun, i played a round last night where everyone worked together, three of us were collecting resources while we were protected by a priest and a warrior within five minutes we had collected enough resources to upgrade every class and build the catapult, once this was done everyone was then availble to either defend or go on the attack by doing this we were able to capture the princess without to much trouble due to the other team still trying to upgrade their classes.

Teamwork is key to playing this game and will be alot more fun if you work together, headsets are not a must but does help if you have one. The best way to win is to all work together as soon as the round starts to collect the resources and upgrade the classes as quick as you can this will then allow all members of your team to then take the outposts and eventually take the other teams princess, also all members of your team will have the ability to use both of their classes ability's which gives your team the edge if the other team is still trying to upgrade.

I would say based on what i have played so far, this game is well worth the £11.99 i paid, the gameplay is fast and fun, every game feels different even if the game mode and map are the same as the previous round you may play one round as a mage then the next as a warrior and so on, the controls are very good and easy to pick up without to much trouble, the music is nice and the voice's are very funny, the graphics are nice and simple and each of the nine maps(black forest, the great gorge, coco cliffs, deep fried, rocky road, sugar cove, tropical punch, hot sauce and soccer) look very different.

Pros:
32 player online.
fun when people work together.
easy to pick up and play.
voice acting is very funny.
5 game modes.
9 maps.
6 classes.
only £11.99.

cons:
would of been even better if there were a few more actions/moves/weapons per class.
annoying when other members of the team refuse to work together.
some rounds go on to long when both teams are evenly matched with all the action staying in the middle of the map and neither team can gain the advantage.

SCORE OUT OF 10: 8.5

Fat Princess Home Space Coming Soon (UPDATE)

After watching the video below it appears that the Fat Princess space is the old events/treasure hunt space from awhile back, does this mean it will be around for a limited time only or is this indeed a new space.

No release date as yet but with Fat Princess releasing tomorrow July 30th, could we see the space added in the weekly Home update which is every Thursday.

UPDATE
The following was just posted on the EU Blog concerning Fat princess event space coming to Home.

Next (and this is very exciting) as of tomorrow, we will be launching a new event in PS Home – the Fat Princess “Quest for Cake”.
Based upon the brilliant PSN title, all you have to do is visit the PlayStation Events Space to join in this very special confectionery quest.

In the fully redecorated space you will find eight pieces of cake, locked away in cages. To unlock the cake and feed your Princess you need to search the space high and low for clues, these clues will give you access to the finest gateaux and, eventually, her majesty’s waistline.
If you do manage to unlock all eight pieces of cake, and feed the Princess, a special PS Home reward will be yours – the Fat Princess’ very own throne for your personal apartment. Here are a few screenshots of the space to whet your appetite…

Last, (but by no means least!) there will be a few additional surprises in tomorrow’s publishing window (particularly revolving around the undead…) so be sure to log-in and check it out
I’ll be around for a while if you have any comments, otherwise I’ll see you in PS Home tomorrow unlocking slices of the finest black forest gateaux.

New Release Date For Fat Princess

According to PlayStation Hong Kong Fat Princess is coming 31st of July 2009. Lets hope this true and it doesn't get pushed back again.

Fat Princess is all about teamwork, whether you’re a freedom fighter or a fat fighter. Your enemies have kidnapped your princess. In revenge, you have abducted their princess. The only problem is, these gluttonous girls just keep on eating cake. The bigger they get, the more men you’ll need to ferry them back to safety.

Fat Princess News

The Sun have a piece on their site showing pictures of fattened up celebrities including Posh spice, Cheryl Cole, Naomi Campbell, Keira Knightley and indie babe Amy Winehouse.

Their transformations mark the release of a new PlayStation game called Fat Princess. It pits two hordes of players against each other in a comic medieval battle royale. We can just imagine these girls going head-to-head...or should that be gut-to-gut?

Sony have yet to announce a fixed release date since the game was pushed back from its original date, but at the bottom of the post The Sun have written the following in bold. Fat Princess is available for download from the PlayStation Network this August.

Fat Princess Disappears From Summer Release List

The best thing ever to happen to European PS3 fans, apart from TSA of course, is the Official Blog. Right from the off they’ve delivered everything we could ever have wanted: official confirmations, developer insights and timely updates - we’re impressed. Of course, they also bring bad news from time to time, albeit news that you have to read in-between the lines of to get - and this time it’s the Summer PSN Highlights post that’s just gone up, that - yes - is missing Fat Princess.

We were ‘promised’ a June release and now that June’s come and gone, we were hoping for July. Unless SCEE have missed something with their post, which lists hits like Battlefield 1943, Fallout 3 DLC and Bomberman, Fat Princess won’t be coming this Summer. Instead we have Zombie Apocalypse, TV Show King and Shatter to entertain us. We have our own thoughts on what’s happened to Fat Princess but aren’t prepared to speculate just now without full consideration, but we’ll hopefully have more on that soon.

At the time of publication there were no comments or replies on the Blog post in question - if this changes, in reference to Fat Princess, we’ll let you know.

Update: The EU Blog’s Mike Kebby has just replied to the many Fat Princess queries with the following:

I wasn’t allowed to mention Fat Princess because of what happened last time we mentioned it on the blog…better to be safe than sorry. The developers will be the ones to come onto the blog to announce it’s arrival when a date has been decided. It is coming though don’t worry.

So it would seem that after all the flak the EU Blog received when Fat Princess did not get released in June as they had said in a previous post that they have had to play safe until the have got a firmer release date for the game. The phrase “damned if they do and damned if they don’t” springs to mind. We would not mind some insight into what has delayed this much anticipated game though.
